2007 Joy Noble Medal Winners

The Office for Volunteers congratulates the recipients of Joy Noble Medals in recognition of outstanding volunteer service in a South Australian Government volunteer program.

The 2007 recipients were:

 

   

Ms Marjorie Moffat.
Nominated by Northern Mental Health, Ms Morritt volunteers for Club 84, and is known as a strong role model for people who have mental illness.  She is an active example of someone who has a mental illness but still has positive and meaningful roles. Ms Morritt has been involved in presentations at numerous conferences and is a strong advocate on mental health matters.

Mr Philip Tavender
Nominated by SAPOL, Holden Hill Community Programmes Section, Mr Tavender has been involved in Neighbourhood Watch for over 17 years and has been the State Coordinator of WatchSA for the past 4 years.  Mr Tavender has also managed the Watch Volunteer ID Project; assisted in marshalling the 2004 Adelaide and Australia Day parade and was the volunteer coordinator for both the 2003 and 2006 International Police Tattoo in Adelaide.

Mr Loyd Leah
Nominated by Friends of Mt George Conservation Park,  Mr Leah has been a stalwart of voluntary environmental work including bush regeneration work in areas of high conservation significance. He is a founding member of the Friends of Mt George and was a major contributor to having Mt George proclaimed a conservation park in 1996. Mr Leah is 84 and, to recognise his exceptional work, the Friends of Mt George have dubbed the intermittent 5th Sunday of a month “a Lloyd Leah day”
