Supporting volunteer resource centres
The Office for Volunteers recognises the incredible contribution that volunteers make to our communities and continues to support volunteer resource centres across South Australia.
Resource centres provide referral services and valuable training for volunteers, and give much needed support to community organisations to enable volunteering to grow and flourish.
Over the next two years, a total of $200,000 in State Government funding is being made available to councils to help them set up volunteer resource centres in their local areas.
Already, volunteer resource centres are established in Gawler, Salisbury, Noarlunga, Clare and Port Augusta.
Gawler Volunteer Charter launch
In 2005-06 the South Australian
Government provided a seed funding
grant of $10,000 to the Town of Gawler
to establish a volunteer resource centre.
as part of National Volunteer Week.
The Gawler Volunteer Charter is
significant as it acknowledges the importance of volunteering and outlines
strategies to promote and facilitate its growth in the local and surrounding areas.
