Gay Thompson, Member for Reynell and Chair of the Volunteer Minisierial Advisory Group presented a Volunteer Showcase, featuring programs developed by the Office for Volunteers, and the audience heard from the Hon Jennifer Rankine MP, Minister for Volunteers and Dr Lorraine Kerr, Manager Social Development at the City of Salisbury.

A highlight of the day was the inspirational and moving address from Mr Hieu Van Le, Lieutenant Governor of South Australia and Chairman of the South Australian Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission (SAMEAC), who shared his experiences on migrating to South Australia and how he has given back to the community that helped him.

The afternoon featured a multimedia presentation, Unpacking History, from the Migration Museum (external link) sharing the stories of two migrants coming to South Australia. This was followed by a series of interactive sessions which included presentations from a number of organisations who provide support, resources and opportunities to new arrivals in South Australia.
