State Volunteer Congress 2008

“The day reinforced knowledge I had and gives me confidence that I am on the right track in my volunteer coordinator role”

The 2008 State Volunteer Congress, Uncrossing the Wires, proved a great way to celebrate International Volunteer Day on Friday 5 December for over 300 attendees at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide, South Australia.

The event featured a special welcome address by our new Minister for Volunteers, Hon Paul Caica MP who also presented certificates to TAFE volunteer management graduates.

Live Internet Cross to Germany-

As an interesting new slant to the program, Ms Jayne Cravens, the former Head of the United Nations Virtual Volunteering Project, was beamed in live from Germany to discuss the basics of virtual volunteering with the audience. Despite some technical problems in getting an audio connection, perseverance paid off and a relieved Andy Fryar from OZvpm was able to talk with Jayne and take questions from the floor.
Despite it being about 7 am in Germany, Jayne was very cheerful and informative and emphasised that she would welcome further contact on volunteering matters from audience members via email.

So if you want to talk more with her get in touch!
