2008 Volunteers Day

Nearly 2000 volunteers attended the annual Volunteers Day concert hosted by the Minister for Volunteers at the Adelaide Festival Theatre on Monday 9 June 2008.

Staged in collaboration with the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, and emceed by Peter Goers from 'ABC Radio 891', the concert featured spectacular performances by acclaimed songstress, Catherine Lambert and the rabble-rousing master drummer Sam Oshodi.

Prestigious South Australian Volunteer Awards were presented on the day to recognise the outstanding and committed contribution of volunteers in our State.

  • Premier's Business Awards went to Goldners Horse Transport, Savings and Loans Credit Union, and Zurich - South Australian Branch for their outstanding support for volunteering.
  • Joy Noble Medal winners were Beverley Donaldson, Silvia Helgerod, Kylie Maher, and Frank Grindlay for outstanding volunteer service to government volunteer programs.
  • The Andamooka community project award went to Community Harvest for their extraordinary work collecting and distributing fresh, healthy and nutritious produce to needy people living in the Unley area.
