2009 Volunteers Day

Award winners at the Volunteers Day concert 2009The Minister for Volunteers, Hon Tom Koutsantonis MP, hosted the annual Volunteers Day concert at the Adelaide Festival Theatre on Monday 8 June 2011.

Staged in collaboration with the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and with Peter Goers from 'ABC Radio 891' as MC, the concert featured performances by two acclaimed Cabaret Festival acts; comedian and musician Mr Bob Downe and jazz singer and vocal artist Mr Percival.

During the concert, the Premier of South Australia, Mike Rann and the Governor of South Australia, His Excellency, Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR presented the prestigious South Australian Volunteer Awards:

  • David Mitchell won the Joy Noble Medal for his contribution to the South Australian Government’s environment and heritage volunteer programs.
  • ETSA Utilities won the Premier’s Business Award in Volunteering for its support for volunteering, and the voluntary activities of its staff, with charities such as the Mary Potter Foundation.  
  • The ‘Australian Farmer’ Granite Sculpture Project at Wudinna won The Andamooka Community Project Award, for its community art project that has delivered great community benefits.
