2015 Volunteers Day
2015 Volunteers Day
More than 1,500 people celebrated the outstanding efforts of the state's volunteers at the 2015 Volunteers Day celebration in Adelaide last year.
The event brought together a mix of inspiring volunteers including individuals, community-minded clubs and businesses with a strong sense of corporate responsibility.
In the presentation of the 2015 State Volunteer Awards, Michelle Sibbons was awarded the Joy Noble Medal for outstanding efforts in volunteering. Michelle was recognised for her work supporting families with children suffering from Congenital Melanocytic Nevus, a rare and potentially life-threatening condition.
The West Beach Surf Life Saving Club received 'The Andamooka' Community Project Award for its 'On the Same Wave' Project. This project teaches newly-arrived immigrants how to be safe at our beaches.
Adelaide Airport Limited was awarded the Premier's Award for Corporate Social Responsibility for its partnership approach to community investment.
The South Australian Government values the significant contribution made by volunteers across the State. In recognition of this enormous effort, it has proclaimed a special day in their honour. Volunteers Day is now celebrated on the Queen's Birthday public holiday every year.
A free event will be held on Monday 8 June 2015 at the Adelaide Festival Theatre to thank South Australia's dedicated volunteers. All volunteers are welcome to attend, registration is essential.
The event will feature presentation of the State Volunteer Awards, door prizes and Adelaide Cabaret Festival highlights, including performances from:
